Track Listing and Details
Track 1 - Darkness (MP3 and streaming real audio preview
available)
Dark and moody, with a voiceover by Benway that's reminiscent of War
of the Worlds. Inspired by the book 'War In Heaven' by David Zindell,
this tune has a driving beat, more squeaks and bleeps than you can
wave a big stick at, and a few things to catch you out.
Track 2 - Grooving In The Shadows
A pure club dance track, extremely catchy, with a brass section you
won't be able to sit still to. Almost 70's in places, with just a
hint of that 'wacca wacca' guitar sound... you may love it, you may
hate it, but you sure won't be able to ignore it.
Track 3 - Can't Keep This Up
Starting with just the slightest suggestion of early 80's Gary Numan,
circa 'Cars', and then pile-driving into the heaviest, most dancable
sub-bass groove you've ever heard. Percussion that's totally off it's
head, electronic piano from hell, and techno syths that just won't
quit. High energy? Hell yeah!!!
Track 4 - WHUGH! (MP3 and streaming real audio preview available)
This begins with a very persistant bassline, and then shimmers into
the most other-worldly synths that'll turn your head inside-out (heard
Front 242 - OFF? You'll know what I mean.) Play this LOUD, and you'll
beg for mercy. Then, just as you think you've got your head around
it, you hear something you least expected.... wtf is that flute doing???
If it doesn't leave you screaming for more, you must already be dead
from brain overload. Oh yeah... the drums will probably kill you anyway.
Track 6 - Laugh Or Else I'll Cry
As the title suggest, this one's bitter-sweet. All at once it's uplifting,
with a certain energy that'll make your pulse race, like a fresh wind
racing through open windows, but at the same time, there's this hint
of sadness and loss. There's a story behind this tune, but I'm not
telling you. Ending with orchestral strings, and dramatic drums...
this is a 'must hear' track.
Track 7 - Turn Down The Lights (MP3 and streaming real audio
preview available)
This GRINDS, and in the best possible way. The cheeky robot voice
speaks for itself, as the bass, and utterly dancable synths beat you
into submission. You can't sit still for this tune. Already massively
popular, the number of people who've requested this track on CD doesn't
bear thinking about. Quite simply, dance through devious audio perversion
(imagine Depeche Mode on steroids)... crank it up loud and blow those
speakers to hell!
Track 8 - Silent Night
Be afraid. Be very afraid! This is scary stuff. Imagine Kraftwerk
and Trent Reznor getting together, and doing some bad acid... you
might just get the picture. Don't listen to this before going to bed,
you'll have nightmares.
Track 9 - You Lied
Quite simply, this track hurts. It hurt to make it, and it hurts to
listen to it... it took some real guts to actually include it on the
CD, as it's massively personal. Ever been scewed around by someone
you were utterly in love with? Ever found out everything you truly
believed in was a lie? This one's for you.
Track 10 - Jadefire (MP3 and streaming real audio preview
available)
And then it happens, you meet someone new. She's happy, and playful,
and full of life. She lifts you out of your depression, and puts the
light back into your life. This isn't techno, it isn't dance... it
isn't like anything you've ever heard. You will love this tune, because
this tune is love. Your speakers will thank you for it. Don't be fooled
into thinking this is something lightweight... love is a powerful
thing. The brass will have you racing around like a lunatic, and the
drums will blow your head off... and that's after everything else
has raised your adrenaline to dangerous levels.
Track 11 - Saphire Rain (MP3 and streaming real audio preview
available)
Acid house bass groove coupled with symphonic rock synths... strange...
very strange. Already a hit in certain clubs in america, so it seems.
Aparrently, a DJ downloaded this, burned it to CD, and shared it with
some DJ friends. I was very surprised one evening, while talking in
an audio chatroom. This sweet young teen clubber said to me "Are you
Benway?" I replied yes, I was. "Are you THE Benway... who did 'Saphire
Rain'?" I replied that was indeed me. "OH MY GOD! I'm talking to THE
Benway." I guess it's rather popular.
Track 12 - Out Of The Dark
Dark and chilling... very gothic. Deathly choirs, church organs, and
then a bass guitar from a freshly dug grave. Imagine sitting in a
church yard at midnight, full moon, mist rolling in from the nearbye
river, and partying to Joy Division. When it reaches the end, you'll
know you've made the journey.. you've come out of the dark.
